OBESITY....
Definition:-
- A medical condition in which the excess fat accumulated in the Body, affect person's wellbeing negatively.
What is the Parameter to measure Obesity...?
- BMI – Body Mass Index. It is a measurement obtained by dividing a person's weight by the square of the person's height.
- According to the WHO (World Health organization) criteria, 25 – 30 BMI is considered as Overweight and Over 30 is Obese.

Also Know: Obesity in America is a serious issue. WHO found that ¾ th of Americans are suffering from Overweight. And 45% Americans are Obese.
Cause:-
- In today’s world, people are living luxuriously - they have Gadgets and technology for everything. That limited their movement.
- Apart from it, the meals that are consumed nowadays are Calorie dense, Sugary and Nutritionally Deficient.
- Sedentary Lifestyle coupled with Calorie Dense food made the Obesity a Worldwide Issue. This has grown severely and shown its negative effects, so much so that The American Medical Association and The American Heart Association Classified it as a Disease.
- In some cases, genetic Makeup of an Individual is also to blame.
- Other causes could be:-
- Insufficient Sleep.
- Shift Workers.
- Emotional Disturbance.
- Drugs causing Hormonal disturbance.
Important: - The
Ideal BMI is 24-27. Anything above and beyond that is problematic.
Issues:-
- Overload on Heart: - Obese individual’s Heart requires more pressure- High Blood pressure, to move the blood around the Body, as their body measurements are more. Apart from that they have more lipids in the body making the arteries small in diameter- Atherosclerosis. Small arteries and more pressure will worsen the situation and might result in the Heart Failure.
- Diabetes Mellitus: - Due to the fatty acid and the Inflammation, Body’s resistance to Insulin Bulids up over time. Insulin resistance leads to building up of excess glucose in the blood and the cells starving to death. That is called Diabetes Mellitus.
- Brain Stroke: - Local cell death in the part of the Brain is called Brain Stroke. Due to Athrosclerosis, the Brain receives less blood supply and thereby O2 and Nutrition. Their death as a result of it is called Brain Stroke.
- Social Stigma:- An obese person cannot perform his regular tasks- Driving, Walking and Sleeping , properly. Also, he doesn’t look good and cannot fit in normal everyday things. That isolates him from the society ; which might cause him to get Depressed.
- Fatty liver:- The excess body fat gets deposited in the Liver cells- Hepatocytes, and cause them to swell. When the liver swells as a whole due to that, the condition is referred to as Fatty Liver.
- Stretch Marks: - Due to excess amount of body fat, body measurements increase exponentially. When the skin is not able to cope up with the growth of body tissues, there will be visible stretch in the collagen fibres of the skin, which is called Stretch Marks.
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea:- Due to excess fat around the throat, the air passage’s diameter decreases. In sleep, because of relaxation of the tongue and throat muscles, the wind tube gets blocked. This causes stoppage of breathing for a moment.
Serious:- Obesity
in children can result in Lower self esteem and ,sometimes, Depression.....!
Prevention:-
- Maintaining healthy lifestyle is the best way to prevent Obesity.
- For that 150 minutes of exercise per week is recommended for Adults. The diet should be having more fibers that will give stomach fullness effect. So, the person will eat less.
- For preventing obesity, the person must be aware about the science of Fat Loss.

certain parts of Africa, Malnutrition and Obesity Coexists....!
Cure:-
- First of all, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE. But if the person is Obese...then, still there are hopes......
- In class I Obesity, lifestyle modification is more than enough. But as the class of Obesity progresses, pharmacological or, in some cases, surgical treatment is needed.
- In lifestyle modification, rather than restricting calories, Intermittent Fasting can help. As calorie restriction can decrease the metabolic Rate, while Intermittent fasting will not .
- Also , Intermittent Fasting will activate Autophagy. That will result in normal appearance after weight loss.
- Not only for Obesity cure, Exercise and Intermittent Fasting is beneficial for all Individuals.......!
