Science of fat loss and deposition

Struggling to decrease your waistline...........?

Can’t understand why your body fat percentage is high............

Still wondering, under which circumstances body fat gets deposited and burned............?

This blog post explains the exact science of lipid, colloquially known as fat, metabolism.

Let’s go...

When we say the food contains Lipid, we mean either of these three: Cholesterol, Phospholipids or Triglycerides- main type of lipid in humans.

Once we consume it, now it’s time to digest that............. all lipids are broken down into fatty acids, glycerol and cholesterol. .....in gut.......from small intestinal wall, it gets absorbed and transported as a combined structure to adipose tissue - contains adipocytes and located underneath skin, in internal organs, bone marrow, muscles and breast, via blood with the help of VLDL or LDL lipoproteins.

Now You Understood?    Why doctor tells you that high amount of LDL in your blood report is not good.... because it transports more FAT to adipose tissue for storage.

In adipose tissue, this will be broken down by Lipoprotein Lipase enzyme, and fatty acids and glycerols will be stored and cholesterol will go to Liver via blood. Then, glycerol will be metabolized like glucose only, whenever required and the fatty acid will be converted to acyl-CoA for utilization at the time of energy shortage.

The basic rule of burning fat is that one has to remain in a caloric deficit- consume less calories than you burn. Whenever the body needs excess energy than consumed, it turns to acyl-CoA for that, which will be metabolized by the process called Beta Oxidation to make ATP – body’s energy source. The more acyl-CoA gets utilized, the volume in the adipose tissue decreases, so they will shrink. We call that Fat Loss............!

Caloric deficit state could be achieved by either eating less or burning more calories by Exercise.

Effect of our eating frequency on Fat utilization.....

When we eat, Insulin releases that will facilitate the entry of glucose in the cells. When we eat frequently, 3-4 meals and snacks in between, Insulin will get released more often so the cells will be overfed and excess glucose will be converted to Fat. So, eating often will make you fat.

Also, when we eat less frequently, Insulin will be less; so glucose will not go in cells and the cells will lack energy. So, the brain will ask the body to turn to the storage energy, in this type of situation- acyl-CoA. Hence, INTERMITTENT FASTING is the best routine to follow for fat burning.

A big NO NO while fat burning: Sleep deprivation, which will lower your metabolic rate. So, the body will burn less energy and will decrease the fat utilization. Also, appetite will increase if the person does not sleep enough, which will make him eat more. Hence, proper sleep – 8 hours a day is crucial for fat burning.

Exercising regularly will also burn more fat because exercise will help in gaining muscle, which will burn calories even at rest. Furthermore, training will help you achieve caloric deficit state.

Alert: Currently , lot of people in the marketplace are selling their products for targeted fat loss like Fat loss Belt for decreasing Waistline....Don’t fall into trap.....body doesn’t work that way. When we lose fat, overall body fat decreases, not from one part only.

Keep an eye on what you eat throughout the day, if you cannot remember, make a diary. My recommendation would be to eat more protein as among all macro-nutrients, protein is the one that requires highest amount of energy for digestion.

Lastly, limit the consumption of sugary beverages- Tea, Coffee and Lemonade. Those have more sugar but less stomach fullness effect; hence, you will drink it more and gain fat from excess sugar.

So, when you are starting to burn your body fat to get perfect summer body???
